The main benefit of this service is that you do not need to contact the medical practice each time you need your medication. Please note that not all medication is suitable for dispensing this way – your doctor will determine if your medication is suited to this scheme and they will also determine how frequently you should pick up your medication - usually every 4 or 8 weeks.
If you are not already using this service, please ask your pharmacist or doctor to check your suitability to join the scheme. Usually if your condition is stable, the medication suitable and you tend to have few medication changes you will be eligible for the Serial Dispensing Service – it should be simpler and more convenient for you.
Once we have your Serial Prescription, you simply request it be dispensed from the pharmacy either by using our online request form or by leaving a message on our dedicated Serial Dispensing phone line.
The medical practice will be aware when you collect your medication from the pharmacy and your doctor will continue to review your ongoing treatment as previously. Under this shared care scheme you can also let the pharmacist know if you are having any issues with your medication.
