Minor Ailments Service

Minor Ailment Services Leaflet

We are pleased to support the NHS Minor Ailments Service. This is a service for children, people aged 60 or over, people who hold medical exemption certificates and people on certain benefits - ask any of our staff about eligibility and registration.

When you are registered for this service the pharmacy can be your first port of call for the treatment of many common illnesses. This treatment is a free service.

The most common conditions we expect to regularly treat at Peterculter Pharmacy include : acne, athlete's foot, cold sores, constipation, diarrhoea, eczema, hay fever and allergies, headache, indigestion, pain, piles, thrush, threadworms, warts and verrucae.

Our pharmacist will discuss the presented ailment with you and will elect to provide advice, prescribe a treatment or refer you to another health care professional depending on their professional appraisal of your or the patient's needs.

We work closely with the local medical practices to provide an equitable easily accessed service for the treatment of this broad range of ailments thus freeing GP appointments for the times where that consultation is most appropriate.
